We went for a 'walk walk' today during science. It was actually a walk about the school to look at the different types of plants.
The boys in our class were saying 'walk walk!' 'walk walk!'.
We went to see the climbers first. There were some snails there. We had to catch a few later for our mini rainforest.
Next, we went to see the cactii(<-that's plural for cactus, right?). One of the boys was balancing on the bricks and someone tried to push him straight into the cactii. But,much to everyone's disappointment, he failed to do so. Our teacher told us that the cactii's leaves are shaped to form needle-like stuctures. So those little needles you fear are actually their leaves. It sound abit pahtetic, being afraid of leaves.
We saw some barrel cactii, which were shaped like a ball. Because of the thorns, it looked like durians. One boy shouted, "Look! It's the esplanade!"
We went to the Eco pond after that and we saw another climber. It was a 'clasping roots' type.
The boys were crowding at the bridge. I was half-expecting it to fall or something. We touched the water lettuce and the leaves of the water lily. The water lettuce felt... abit hairy. The water lily's leaf felt... waxy and abit smooth.
We then went into the AVA room and watched a video. There was something wrong with the sound. It came out from the front speakers for a while, then suddenly switched to the back speakers. So it's like loud then soft. We couldn't hear half of what they were saying.
We went for recess straight after that. We went and got a container. We started looking for snails on the climber plant. My friend found a very small snail(about this small:---.). They tipped it into the container. They placed a leaf in. I found another snail, which was much bigger(about this big:---------.), on a leaf. We couldn't tip it in so they plucked the leaf out instead.
By that time recess was over. The container was labelled 'Preserved Palm Seeds'. So we called the big snail 'Palm' and the small one 'Seed'.
Okay, that was fun.
